On-street EV charging in Lindfield, East Lindfield and Roseville

Project Overview

Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking your feedback on proposed new on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging locations in Lindfield and Roseville.

We're inviting residents, business owners, and visitors to review and comment on the proposed EV Charger sites to ensure they best meet the needs of the local community.

What is being proposed?

Two experienced EV Charge Point Operators (CPOs) — ChargePost and Plus ES — have received NSW Government funding to install on-street pole-mounted chargers across Ku-ring-gai.

On-street EV charging refers to chargers installed directly on the street, usually at the kerbside or on power poles.

These chargers will:

  • Be fully funded by NSW Government — no cost to Council or ratepayers
  • Operate on a user-pays model, with prices set by the provider
  • Be located in areas where people typically park for 2+ hours
  • Be installed in existing public parking spaces
  • Provide up to 22 kW of power
  • Use Type 2 connectors (bring your own cable)
  • Be a single or dual bay charger, depending on the location.

Why is this project happening?

Electric vehicle ownership is growing rapidly across Ku-ring-gai, with many residents making the switch to cleaner, more efficient transport. As of July 2025, more than 1 in 20 vehicles in Ku-ring-gai are now electric – more than three times the state average. However, not everyone has access to home charging — especially:

  • Apartment or townhouse residents
  • Renters without garage access
  • Households with only on-street parking
  • Visitors to the area

On-street EV charging will help close this gap, making EV use more accessible to all residents.

Suggested locations

Why have these locations been selected?

Proposed locations for the on-street EV chargers attached to existing power poles have been selected on the following basis:

  • Preferred – a site which meets all the criteria outlined in the Have Your Say website at (insert link)
  • Alternate – other sites which could be considered depending on public feedback

Your feedback will help us decide on the location of each EV charger.

The proposed sites have been selected based on:

  • Proximity to apartment blocks where residents may lack home charging options
  • Recreation areas where people park for extended periods
  • Town centres supporting local businesses and longer visits
  • Existing parking patterns to minimize disruption while maximising benefit

Important to know

  • Multiple options may be shown per street – usually one location per street will be selected, however in some cases this may be up to two - your feedback will help determine final sites
  • Final numbers will be determined following consultation and Council's assessment processes
  • All installations are fully funded by the EV charger operators and NSW Government grants
