Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to upgrade the existing roundabout on Lady Game Drive at Highfield Road and Moore Avenue.
Background
The intersection of Lady Game Drive with Highfield Road and Moore Avenue has been identified as an accident blackspot. There have been 6 recorded accidents at the intersection, according to the latest 5 years of accident data.
The existing roundabout is quite small, with little deflection to slow vehicles as they travel through the intersection.
What's being proposed
Council is proposing to apply for funding under the Australian Government Blackspot Program to upgrade the roundabout. It is proposed that the existing roundabout be replaced by a significantly larger roundabout. This would improve safety by increasing the deflection angle, which would reduce vehicle speeds through the intersection.
Other main features of the proposal include;
- Removal of the slip lanes on both Lady Game Drive approaches.
- Changes to the road alignment, including a new median on the southern leg of Lady Game Drive.
- Extending the concrete median and constructing a new kerb blister on the northern leg of Lady Game Drive.
- Remove triangular concrete median on northern leg of Lady Game Drive.
- Adjustments to the existing medians on the Highfield Road and Moore Avenue legs of the intersection.
