Council has developed a plan for improvements to Pymble local centre and we would like to hear what you think.

The draft Pymble Public Domain Plan proposes improvements to the streetscape and public space. The vision is “to create a vibrant Local Centre with a village character where local residents, families, workers and commuters can connect, work, dine and shop”.

The Draft Plan outlines the vision to revitalise central Pymble. It also guides public domain upgrades as the centre evolves.

The key features draft Pymble PDP include:

  • improving Grandview Street by creating wider footpaths for outdoor dining and tree planting;
  • formalised pedestrian crossing points, and traffic calming measures at key locations;
  • Improvements to Council’s car park (1 Alma Street) with new shared pedestrian and bicycle paths;
  • Improved pedestrian connections to Robert Pymble Park from the station;
  • Improved pedestrian and cycle connections to the local centre from surrounding residential areas;
  • New paving, street furniture and more tree planting throughout the commercial centre;
  • A new shared path beside the rail corridor on Avon Road;
  • Undergrounding of powerlines in selected streets and new LED street lights;
  • Improvements to through-block laneways.

The Pymble PDP will ensure that upgrades support the desired future character of the centre.

Comments must be received by 5pm on Monday 7 November 2022.

Please note, under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, such submissions are public and may be accessed by third parties by application to Council.

Also note, that printed copies of the plan are available at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 818 Pacific Highway, Gordon and at Gordon Library.

What's next

Feedback from the public exhibition will be reviewed to determine if changes to the draft PDP are required. The results of the public exhibition and the final draft PDP will then be reported back to Council for adoption.

Construction work relating to the Plan is scheduled to commence in 2025 - 2026.

Also, note that this PDP should be read in conjunction with the Ku-ring-gai Public Domain Plan Vol.1 (Guidelines) and Vol.3 (Technical Manual). These have been adopted by Council and can be found here.
