Our community is growing, and our current facility does not meet current and future needs. The building is outdated and doesn't meet today's accessibility standards, making it difficult for some community members to use. We've been working toward this upgrade and now have grant funding specifically for improving accessibility and creating more welcoming spaces for women and girls.
The whole community will benefit, from local school children to club members to visiting families. The new facility will include accessible bathrooms, better storage, step-free pathways, an inclusive change room, and a canteen area. These improvements will make the oval safer and more welcoming for everyone, especially women, girls, and people with disabilities. This would be only the second "Changing Places" facility in Ku-ring-gai Council area - a major step forward for accessibility.
We're planning to begin construction next year. The exact timing depends on what we hear during community consultation and completing our detailed designs and approvals. Our target is to start building around mid-2026.
Your input is valuable. We want to hear what's important to you and your family. The current design aims to meet everyone's needs while keeping disruption to a minimum. The more community support we have - especially for delivering the full project - the better we can ensure maximum benefits for all users. Your voice helps shape what gets built.
